The Graduate School administers summer reading courses in French, German, Italian and Spanish for GSAS doctoral students and funds the tuition for these courses in order to assist students in satisfying degree requirements or pursuing dissertation research. Courses meet Monday through Friday from 9 am - noon.
Reading courses (except German) will take place during Session A of Yale Summer Session (German will be offered as an online course from May 22 - June 23). Other information regarding the location of the daily meetings will be communicated to applicants along with confirmation of enrollment.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive certification from the Graduate School bearing the course grade. These courses will not appear on transcripts issued by the University. A student who fails to complete the course in which he or she has enrolled may be disqualified from applying to Graduate School funding programs in the future.
The application deadline is April 1 at 1 pm (EST).
Applicants must apply for the reading course at http://gsas.yale.edu/gsas-summer-language-reading-courses.
