The Graduate School established the Dean's Fund for Research Workshops, Seminars and Colloquia to encourage ongoing dialogue between students and faculty regarding their scholarship and research.

Some of these conversations focus on a particular field of study, whereas others address the intersection of multiple disciplines and provide a forum for those at the University who would otherwise have less occasion to interact. The Dean's Fund currently supports over thirty student colloquia, many of which renew their funding annually and have become an integral part of Yale's academic community. This program also offers graduate students practical experience in developing and administering academic series and events.

Student-organized research workshops, seminars and colloquia that will hold at least four meetings per term are eligible for support from the Dean's Fund. Please note that departmental activities formally related to degree requirements cannot be supported by the Dean's Fund.


Fall Term Award Deadline: September 15 (up to $500)
Spring Term Award Deadline: January 15 (up to $500)
Academic Year Award Deadline: September 15 (up to $1,000)

Note: Students proposing a series to the Dean's Fund must also request that their DGS send an e-mail to Dean Richard Sleight evaluating the basic merits of the proposed series and detailing the planned involvement of faculty members in the department.
