Applicants who previously attended the Graduate School and seek readmission to the same department must submit a new application, and, when appropriate, a financial statement.  The application fee is not required for students applying to continue studying for the same degree.  Students in terminal MA/MS programs applying to PhD programs are required to pay the application fee.


In the online application, where prompted, please indicate that you were a previously enrolled student, the beginning and ending years you were enrolled and the program in which you were previously enrolled in the online application. You must notify the Office of Graduate Admissions prior to the submission of your application in order for the application fee to be waived.

You must submit all required materials:

  • Statement of purpose
  • Transcripts
  • Writing samples, if required
  • Other materials that support your application, even if such materials were already included in a prior year application
  • Names of recommenders
