The Office for Graduate Student Development and Diversity (OGSDD), formerly the Office for Diversity and Equal Opportunity (ODEO), was established in 2000 with the premise that expanding the diversity within the student body enhances the intellectual experience and understanding of the entire scholarly community. The Office operates collaboratively with departments and programs to proactively recruit and support the needs of diverse students as they pursue graduate study at Yale in order to foster a sense of community and create opportunities for professional development.

The Office is under the administrative direction of an Associate Dean who is also the Director. Part-time graduate student Diversity Fellows assist with the development and implementation of retention programs.
