10:30am, Graduate School Commencement Convocation, Lecture Hall, Yale University Art Gallery (enter at ramp at 201 York Street, across from Loria Center)

Awarding of graduate student prizes and graduate faculty mentor prizes. Remarks by Dean Cooley & mentors. Prize winners and their guests encouraged to attend; academic regalia is not required. Seating is limited.

2:00pm, Class Day with Speaker Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, GSAS ‘08 (M.A.)

Class Day at Yale opens with a notable guest speaker, and then the awarding of Yale College (undergraduate) student prizes for the graduating class. There is no speaker in the main University Ceremony on Monday. All graduating and current students and guests are welcome to attend Class Day, with plenty of seating on Old Campus. This year’s class day speaker is noted Nigerian novelists and Ted Talk presenter Chimamanda Adichie (link is external), a Yale Graduate School Alumna (2008, African Studies M.A.). You may attend the speech and then may leave if you do not wish to stay for the awarding for Yale College prizes afterwards.
