Graduate Students Hold Relax and Chill Holiday Toy Drive

December 11, 2018

The Graduate Student Assembly (GSA), the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS), the Office for Graduate Student Development and Diversity (OGSDD), and the Yale Undergraduate Prison Project (YUPP), recently hosted a holiday gift/toy drive fundraiser at Gryphon’s Pub and Dwight Hall to benefit children and families with incarcerated parents in the New Haven area.

Graduate and Professional students were invited to attend the GPSS and GSA “Relax and Chill Holiday Toy Drive Dance & Ugly Sweater Party” where G&P students and their friends donated toys and also money through GPSS Venmo: @senatetreasurer. Over 100 toys were donated and $400.00 raised to purchase gifts cards for families.

The day after the event, all the toys were wrapped by graduate and undergraduate students at the Dwight Hall Center for Public Service and Social Justice at Yale.

For those who couldn’t make the event, there are donation boxes in all of the residential colleges for students to continue to donate until 7:00pm December 11, 2018.

The venmo: @senatetreasurer will remain open for monetary donations until Friday, December 14, 2018. All donated gifts and funds will be given directly to children and families with incarcerated parents in New Haven.
