New Virtual Orientation JULY 29 - AUGUST 30: Some Items Required* - due to COVID-19 precautions, GSAS Orientation events will be online only – virtual, most held in Live sessions at specific times.

REQUIRED TRAINING SESSIONS are events and you must attend live and in person. Many info sessions will be recorded.

Monday, August 24 - Friday, August 28 - 

GSAS Orientation Welcome Week Events (virtual)- Visit Yale Connect First Year GSAS Group (Login required) for schedules and to sign up for events in advance.

August 24-26 – GSAS School-wide Orientation Welcome Week Events:

  • Variety of Events, Some Required, Most Optional but Recommended: At GSAS Orientation, you will be officially welcomed online with video messages from the Yale President and GSAS Dean. At various online Orientation events and virtual fairs, you can learn practical information about resources of the Graduate School, the University and New Haven. Enjoy virtual social events and online tours to make new friends and build community. There will be over 700 new GSAS students to meet, most living in the local area, but some participating remotely from across the globe

  • 2020 Format Live Virtual or Online Synchronous Orientation Events – For Fall 2020, due to COVID-19 guidelines, all GSAS Orientation events will be virtual live in Zoom online, with events scheduled on US Eastern Time.

  • Aug. 25 & 26 - Two Required Training Sessions occur Live at specific times, with attendance recorded. You must sign up for these training in Yale Connect and attend each virtual training session, from where ever you are residing.

August 27-28 - Department and Degree Program Orientation events (virtual) may be held on these days. Contact your department or degree program for more information.

GSAS classes begin Monday August 31, 2020

Aug. 10-21: Pre-register online for courses in advance of the start of Fall term. Review online lists of available Yale courses and classes in Yale Course Search, and consult with your DGS, department/program or adviser on course selection. Instructions on completing the course selection process online will be provided by the University Registrar in early August.

Aug. 31- Sept. 11: You can add or drop courses from your schedule during the first two weeks of each term to see if they meet your needs. Visit the Course Registration page for information.
