Conference Travel Fellowship (CTF) Application Form
GSAS students are eligible once per academic year to apply for a maximum award of $800 to cover travel, lodging, and conference registration fees to present their work at an academic conference. If you have been accepted to present at a conference, you may use the application form below to apply for a Conference Travel Fellowship (CTF).
To submit an application for the Conference Travel Fellowship, complete all of the fields on the application form below and upload the required documents in PDF format. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible after you have been accepted to present at the conference and no later than 30 days prior to the event. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Prior to filling out the application, you should be prepared to upload:
- An itemized budget clearly detailing the expenses to be covered by the CTF (registration fee, transportation, and lodging only)
- Cost estimates or receipts from vendors for budgeted expenses
- Confirmation from the conference organizers that your presentation has been accepted
You should also be prepared to list any other funding sources for which you have applied or received an award to cover conference expenses.
Restrictions:
- Students may receive one award per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). The application for the current fiscal year will close on June 15.
- Only students presenting (papers, posters, or panelists) at a conference are eligible for funding.
- If your presentation is on an international topic, you must apply to the MacMillan Center Conference Travel Grant. GSAS CTF applications on international topics will be denied and the student will be referred instead to apply for the MacMillan Center award. Students are not eligible to apply for or receive both awards.
- The Conference Travel Fellowship may be used to cover the cost of the following expenses only: transportation, lodging, and conference registration fees.
Review Process:
Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. The review process typically takes 3-5 business days from application submission. Once completed, the applicant will be notified of the award decision by email. If approved, funds will be distributed to the student's program and the student will be reimbursed for eligible expenses after the conference. Instructions for requesting reimbursement will be included with the award email. Receipts must be submitted within 45 days of the conference to be eligible for reimbursement.
