Rahul earned his PhD in Engineering and Applied Science in 1987, and boasts a remarkable journey as a physicist, having spent over two decades at esteemed institutions like the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Today, he steers two influential non-profit organizations: Butterflies USA, which supports working children in India via diverse educational support, and Amandla Development, which focuses on empowering South African youth with equal access to quality education opportunities.
Rahul's commitment extends beyond his professional achievements. A dedicated and passionate leader within the Yale alum community, he has held several pivotal roles, including chair of the Yale Alumni Association (YAA), chair of the Graduate School Alumni Association (GSAA), and president of the Yale Club of San Francisco. His impactful initiatives include the inception of the signature GSAA program "Where Do I Go from Yale?" (WDIGFY), boosting the participation of graduate and professional school alumni on the YAA Board of Governors, and fostering student engagement by recruiting students for alumni activities and sponsoring them for the Yale Club of San Francisco summer programs. In addition, he is also an active member of the Yale For Humanity campaign committee.
