Steve Corcelli

Professor Steve Corcelli is a theoretical chemist whose research focuses on understanding the structure and dynamics of biomolecules. He graduated from Brown University with a Sc.B. in Chemistry and was awarded a Ph.D. from Yale University. He then trained as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Corcelli began his independent academic career in 2005 at the University of Notre Dame, where he has been the grateful recipient of several awards, including the Camille and Henry Dreyfus New Faculty Award, a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, and a Sloan Research Fellowship. His teaching was recognized with the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2012 and 2019) and the Thomas P. Madden Award for Excellence in Teaching First-Year Undergraduates (2020). Before he was appointed the Interim William K. Warren Foundation Dean of the College of Science in 2025, Corcelli served as the Associate Dean of Interdisciplinary Programs and Faculty Development in the College of Science (2019-2022) and as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (2022-2025).
