Annual Yale Bouchet Conference on Diversity and Graduate Education
The annual Yale Bouchet Conference on Diversity and Graduate Education is a dynamic academic conference, drawing New Haven community residents, scholars, administrators, and graduate and undergraduate students from across the nation.

Certificates
The Graduate School offers a number certificate programs through which you can gain secondary competency in a related field while pursuing your PhD. There are two types of certificates: academic program certificates and certificates in training.

Combined PhD Programs
The Graduate School offers opportunities to pursue interdisciplinary fields of study through our formal combined PhD programs. In addition, students may also request to create an ad hoc combined program in consultation with their department or program.

Conference Travel Fellowship (CTF)

By partnering with the MacMillan Center and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, graduate students with representatives in the Graduate Student Assembly are eligible for annual conference travel funding of up to $800.

Dean's Colloquium and Symposium Fund
If you are interested in leading an academic event, such as a workshop or conference, the Dean's Colloquium and Symposium Fund provides financial support for graduate student-led events

Digital Humanities (DH) Lab

The Digital Humanities Lab (DHLab) is uniquely positioned to support graduate student professional development through its programs. The DH Certificate allows you to complete coursework, training, and project work to demonstrate digital humanities competencies. The DH Dissertation Fellowship provides a stipend, space, community, mentorship, and mini-grant funding for students building a digital dissertation component.

Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society
Named for Edward Alexander Bouchet, the first self-identified African American doctoral recipient in the United States, the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society (Bouchet Society) recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate.

Emerging Scholars Initiative
The Office of the Provost has partnered with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to create the Emerging Scholars Initiative.

En Route MA or MS in a Different PhD Program
Students enrolled in a PhD program may seek to receive an en route MA or MS degree from another program, provided it is in a related field and deemed necessary by your adviser and DGS for the completion of your proposed dissertation research.

Exchange Programs
The Graduate School offers domestic and international exchange opportunities for PhD students. On an exchange, you can master course content in another language, learn new methodologies to inform your dissertation, visit library archives and collections to expand your research, and develop your professional network with fellow scholars in the US and abroad.
